How is my data secured on Prose?
Prose's main goal is to build a credible alternative to centralized workplace instant communication platforms such as Slack or Microsoft Teams. With Prose, you self-host the Prose Pod server on your own premises.
Prose secures your data in many different ways:
- Against loss (backups can be exported and stored on your own cold storage facilities).
- Against network wiretapping (strong mandatory client to server encryption, and client to client end-to-end encryption).
- Against server administrator reading stored messages (not possible, since messages are end-to-end encrypted).
The way your data is secured differs based on how you host Prose:
- If you self-host Prose, you have to bear the responsibility of securing the systems running your Prose Pod (eg. your server's Linux system), with good practices (encrypted virtual machine snapshots, firewall, etc.).
